Peggy Joan Gilliland Simmons, 74, a lifelong resident of Springtown, was called home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2010. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, at Springtown Cemetery
Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, at White's Funeral Home, 401 N. Main Street, Springtown
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Springtown or the Springtown-Goshen Cemetery Association.
Peggy was born July 31, 1935 in Springtown. She retired from the civil service after working at Fort Wolters and Carswell AFB. Peggy was also retired from the Springtown Flower Shop and the Springtown Cemetery Association. She has been a member of the Eastern Star, including past Matron. Peggy and husband, Dudley were charter members of the Springtown Revolvers Square Dance Club. They have been faithful lifetime members of the First United Methodist Church of Springtown.
Our dear mother was the heart and soul of our family and will be deeply missed.
Peggy was born to Ray and Beulah Gilliland. They preceeded her in death in 1997 and 1996 respectively. She was also preceeded in death by her brother, Don Gilliland.
Survivors: Her husband of 54 years, Dudley; children, Sharon Simmons and partner, Karen Drew, Dianne Peterson and partner, Alf Smith, all of Springtown; grandchildren, Zachary and Jennifer Peterson of Keller; sister-in-law, Peggy Gilliland of Azle; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
