Sophie P. Cerbone, 86, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Couts United Methodist Church. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at White's Funeral Home.
Sophie P. Cerbone was born October 22, 1923, in Bayonne, NJ, the daughter of Anthony and Julia Markewicz Kowalak. She was a long time resident of Bayonne, NJ. Sophie was a huge enthusiast of ballroom dancing and crossword puzzles. Sophie and her late husband were very active in the reunions of the 4th USMC Div. retirees. She was also active in the Toast Master's Club. Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, William V. Cerbone; brother, John Kowalak; sisters, Mary Chirchie and Heidi Meola; and a granddaughter, Sarah Cerbone.
Survivors include children, Jennie Sherwin and husband Roger, Arleen Cerbone Faustina and husband, Stephen, William V. Cerbone, Jr. and wife, Cheryl; sister, Janet Szycher; twin sisters, Dorothy Valego and husband, Bill, and Florence Martin; brother, Wallace Kowalak and wife, Alberta; grandchildren, Kurt Larkin and wife, Megan, Colin Brennan, Michael Larkin and wife, Lindsey, William V. Cerbone, III, and wife, Heidi; twins, Jenny Esquivel and husband, Ed and Megan Epperson and husband, Sean, and Isabella Cerbone; great-grandchildren, Patrick Larkin, Edyn Esquivel, Katie Larkin, Emmy Esquivel, and Stella Sophia Larkin.
